We know how insurers think because we've worked with them.

With over a decade of end-to-end complaints management experience, we know exactly how insurers think because we have worked inside the system.

We understand how insurers assess complaints, how they decide what to settle and what to fight, and where most policyholders go wrong when challenging a decision. That insider knowledge is what we bring to your corner.

DisputeSmart was built because too many Australians walk away from legitimate disputes. Not because they don't have a case, but because the process is designed to be difficult. We're here to change that.

Frequently asked questions

AFCA the Australian Financial Complaints Authority is a free, independent service that handles disputes between consumers and financial firms, including insurers. If your insurer has rejected or underpaid your claim and you've already tried to resolve it with them directly, you can escalate to AFCA. AFCA can require your insurer to pay or settle claims in a way that a regular complaint to the insurer cannot.
No. DisputeSmart is not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. We are a complaints support service that helps you understand and navigate the AFCA process. If your matter requires formal legal representation, we'll tell you that clearly in your free assessment.
Once you submit the intake form, we review your situation and send you a written assessment usually within 2 business days. It will tell you honestly whether we think you have a viable case, what your options are, and which service tier we'd recommend. There's no obligation to proceed.
That's actually a requirement for AFCA you generally need to have gone through the insurer's internal dispute resolution process first. If you've already done that and aren't satisfied with the outcome, you're likely ready to escalate to AFCA and we can help you do that effectively.
It varies depending on complexity. Many complaints are resolved at the registration or referral stage sometimes within weeks. More complex disputes that go to a formal determination can take several months. We'll give you a realistic timeline estimate as part of your assessment.
Yes. Generally you have two years from when the insurer issues its final decision to lodge with AFCA. Don't wait the sooner you act, the more options you have.
